FULL CENTRAL HEATING SYSTEM INSTALLATION
Gregory Heating and Plumbing Ltd install the full range of central heating components from boilers, hot water cylinders, and controls, up to full systems themselves. If a full system is to be installed, then we recommend using your chosen boiler manufacturer’s range of components, which will have been designed to operate together. Both Glow-worm and Vaillant have their own suites of Programmers, Room Thermostats and Cylinders that work in unison with their Boilers.
TYPES OF FULL SYSTEM
The three main types of system that we install are:
- Regular Open Vent Systems
- System Boiler Systems
- Combination Boiler Systems
The overall system components and piping that are required for each, differ and this will be explained here.
REGULAR OPEN VENT SYSTEMS
This is the most common Heating/Hot Water system found in households. It has the following characteristics:
- Most space consuming systems as it commonly utilises Loft Storage Tanks and Hot Water Cylinders.
- System runs on low pressure, therefore Hot Water will usually be gravity fed, unless a pump is fitted.
- Well suited to large properties with high Hot Water demand.
- Electric Immersion Heater in Hot Water Cylinders, can be used as backup in case of Boiler Breakdown.
SEALED SYSTEMS
A Sealed System, utilising a Systems Boiler, is increasingly popular and efficient, with the following characteristics:
- Heating circuit is high pressure; Hot Water circuit is commonly low pressure, unless used with Unvented Hot Water Cylinder.
- Less pipework required on installation, as the boiler can be connected directly to high pressure mains, therefore no requirement for feed tank in the loft.
- Installation is neater as pump and expansion tank are fitted within the boiler.
- Suited to large properties with high Hot Water demand.
- Electric Immersion Heater in Hot Water Cylinders, can be used as backup in case of Boiler Breakdown.
A Sealed System, utilising a Combination Boiler, is a very popular system, found in a lot of smaller properties, with the following characteristics:
- Heating and Hot Water both high pressure.
- Uses the least pipework of all the system types, and frees up the most space. as there is no requirement for Loft Tanks or Hot Water Cylinder.
- Capable of supplying instant Hot Water.
- Better suited for smaller properties, with lower Hot Water demand.
- No back up in case of Boiler Breakdown.
